Maltese known as “teacups” or simply, “Teacup Maltese,” are purebred Maltese that fall into an even smaller size category of just 4 lbs. or less at adult weight. Teacup Maltese are one of the most sought after breeds here at TeaCups, Puppies and Boutique. They are quite rare and much harder to come across than most other teacup varieties. However, as pointed in the first paragraph the average full-grown Yorkie Maltese mix usually measures in at around 6 to 8 inches at the shoulder and from 4 to 8 pounds. Teacup Morkies, on the other paw, are on the smaller side of that average. The coat of the Maltese Yorkie is a beautiful blend of its genetics, being soft and slightly longer.
The Maltese breed are known as a toy breed and hence toy Maltese is a fairly common term to describe a Maltese. A toy breed is dogs which are small in size of which Maltese are one of the smallest already at only an average weight of 7 lbs. Teacup Maltese and Miniature Maltese can be used to describe the same types of dogs within the Maltese breed. The Maltese is a toy dog covered from head to foot with a mantle of long, silky, white hair. He is gentle-mannered and affectionate, eager and sprightly in action, and, despite his size, possessed.
